Pittsburgh to Celebrate its Cultural Diversity with World Square

The celebration will take place from Friday, August 21 to Sunday, August 23, 2026, and is organized by the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant & Refugee Affairs in coordination with the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership.

Music, dance, entrepreneurship, and cultural expressions from around the world will come together for a new edition of World Square, an event that seeks to recognize the contributions of immigrant and refugee communities that have made Pittsburgh a diverse, dynamic, and multicultural city. The celebration will take place from Friday, August 21 to Sunday, August 23, 2026, and is organized by the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant & Refugee Affairs in coordination with the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership.

Ampelio De Anda, Coordinator of the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs at the City of Pittsburgh, explained that the festival was designed as a space for the city’s diverse communities to share their traditions, show their talent, and connect with the public. The program will include musical performances, dances, cultural activities, and the participation of merchants and entrepreneurs from various backgrounds.

“We are inviting the diverse communities of Pittsburgh that make our city such a special and vibrant place,” said De Anda. The official emphasized that World Square will not only be a cultural show, but also an opportunity for attendees to meet directly those who, through their businesses, art, and customs, contribute to the economic and social development of the city.

Among the participants, there will be small business owners and artisans offering handmade products, such as jewelry, clothing, decorative items, and other crafts representative of their cultures. According to De Anda, the City of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership are also providing support to some entrepreneurs who still don’t have the necessary resources to present their businesses professionally.
